Kristie Hamilton, director of sales at Imperial Cat in Morrilton, Ark., said that her
company has started to include catnip in a sealed package along with the toy,
instead of inside the toy.
“This keeps the catnip fresher, extending the shelf life of the toy for retailers
and improving customer satisfaction, as their cats will react better to fresh catnip
that hasn’t been exposed to air on the store shelf,” she said.
Last year, From the Field in Rainier, Wash., launched a hemp cat toy, Jacques le
Sock, which is filled with the company’s Ultimate Blend, a mix of catnip and silver
vine. The toy comes in a sealed package with a hangtag.
“It’s a nice sock shape coming in five bright colors that is sure to please cus-
tomers who are looking for a great gift for their beloved cats,” said Pascal Bedard,
president. “It’s fully biodegradable and made in the USA, as always.”
This year is set to be a big one for R2P Pet Group when it comes to cat toys.
“We are putting a focus
on unique plush and catnip
toys, including a 100 percent
catnip line of wacky, novelty
characters called MadCat,
which includes adorable ice
cream cones and googly-eye
mustaches and tacos,” said
Rita Zine-Himy, vice president
of product development for the
Pleasanton, Calif., company.
“These fun and goofy toys are
Instagram ready and play ready.”
Another new product line is its Wild Instincts insect plush toys, which are
very realistic plush butterflies, moths and other cat-centric insects with detailed
stitching, boutique quality and one-of-a-kind designs, Zine-Himy said.
Ellen Tsuyuki, president of Nekochan Enterprises in Surrey, British Columbia,
Canada, said the company strives to develop products that will provide the enrichment indoor cats require to live healthy and happy lives.
“Essentials such as hunting/playing skills and interactive bonding between
owner/cat are part of the enrichment that our products provide,” she said. “We
introduced the UJI Tunnel System at SuperZoo with great success. It is three
separate tunnels that can be combined to create over 20 different shapes, easily
fitting into any shape room.”
This year, Nekochan is looking to add one more exclusive toy to its wand toy
line, Tsuyuki said.
Sarah Stone, marketing director for Worldwise Inc. in Novato, Calif., said
Worldwise, in general, and its specialty brand Petlinks, in particular, have been at
the forefront of providing innovative, high-quality and safe electronic cat toys.
“The recently released Petlinks Flitter Fly is a great success story,” she said. “It
illustrates how new ideas in electronic toys create new, captivating play patterns
for cats and, in turn, create new demand for those toys.”

THE OURPET’S CO.’S Kitty Potty Litterbox lets cats eliminate in a safe and
natural manner. Cats “go” in a hole that is strategically placed in the middle
of the unit. Surrounding the hole is litter, which allows the cat to instinctively
cover, but never touch,
its waste. Pet owners
never come in contact
with waste either. When
the waste tray is full,
pet owners simply remove the tray, slide the
bag over the waste and
toss. The product also
serves as a training tool
to “potty train” kittens.
The litterbox effectively
absorbs odors, keeping
the litter area fresh.
FROMM FAMILY FOODS presents

of rabbit and duck combined with
potatoes, carrots and celery. It is the
eighth recipe in the Four-Star Nutritionals Menu, bringing variety to cats
everywhere. The formula is inspired by
traditional German rabbit stew.

Use the chart provided on the box to compare
the weight of your cat’s urine balls. If the weight
of the urine balls is at or above the levels of the
chart your cat is urinating too much, regardless
of diet. Weigh your cat’s urine balls every three
months and if the weight of the urine balls
increases and your cat’s diet is the same, see your
veterinarian. Your veterinarian can recommend
a special diet that can add years to your cat’s life.
