Employees at Wolf and Lion Pet
Supplies in San Francisco rely on their
own experience with small animal food
and treats to make recommendations
“I use The Busy Bunny edible toy
treats with my own pets,” said Daieny
Chin, store associate. “These are nat-
ural, healthful options made for rabbit
owners by rabbit owners.”
Customers respond well to
personal advice from employees when
selecting products, manufacturers
“Chances are your staff is your
single greatest (and most creative)
resource,” said Lucas Stock, communications manager for Oxbow Animal
Health in Murdock, Neb.
Employees also become valuable
marketers by using the products in the
store. At Rumford Pet Center, which has
stores in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, staff members care for the small
animals sold in the stores with products
sitting on the shelves.
“People love to see how the animals interact with different products,”
said Noel L. Gonsalves, marketing
and analytics manager for the chain.
“Simply providing items for use in-store
can really help people see how much
the animals like certain items.”
