FINDS CHICKEN SITTING
ON THE RISE
According to Pet Sitters International’s (PSI) 2016 State of the Industry Survey, more professional
pet sitters are providing the pet
care solution for chicken owners.
PSI, the educational association for professional pet sitters,
conducts its State of the Industry
Survey every two years. It is the
most comprehensive survey of its
kind for the professional pet-sitting industry, according to the
PSI’s 2016Stateofthe Industry
Survey revealed a sharp increase
in chicken sitting. The survey
found that 85 percent of PSI mem-
ber pet sitters who offer livestock
care say they offer care for chick-
ens and barnyard fowl—up from
58 percent in 2014. Twenty-six per-
cent of sitters offer livestock care.
MODERNA OPENS NEW U.S.
Moderna Products America,
which has corporate headquarters in Izegem, Belgium, recently opened a 118,000-square-foot
production facility in the U.S.
The fully operational injection

campus in Gaffney, S.C., allows
production of the Moderna
brand and private brand capabilities with manufacturing capabilities to supply customers

to the company. The facility, supported by a full staff, includes order placement, customer service,

ROVER RAISES $40M IN
SERIES E FUNDING
Rover, a pet-sitting startup,
has raised $40 million in Series E funding, led by Foundry
Group and Menlo Ventures,
with participation from Madrona Venture Group, all of which
are existing investors, reported
Rover has raised more than
$90 million in total funding, according to the site.
“At Menlo we have been for-
tunate to back companies like
Uber, Siri, Hotmail and Gilead
Sciences,” said Menlo managing
director Venky Ganesan in the
funding release. “Rover is on that
trajectory, and that’s why we de-
cided to double down and go all
in on this investment.”
The company reported that it
has more than 65,000 dog sitters
and walkers in its network, and
that it’s seeing an average of 1
million bookings each quarter.
Rover stated the new funding
will be used “to continue rede-
fining the pet care space through
product developments, geo-
graphical expansion and contin-
ued market growth.”
NASC QUALITY SEAL
TropiClean of Wentzville Mo., recently obtained the National Animal Supplement
Council (NASC) Quality Seal for its Life by Tropiclean Supplements.
The NASC Quality Seal states that its members have gone through the organization’s rigorous audit, which helps minimize and control risk, statistically tracks all
