The World Pet Association (WPA) inducted Andreas Schmidt and Jan Mulholland into its Hall of Fame at the
WPA Chairman’s Reception, which was held at the House of Blues Foundation Room in the Mandalay Bay
Resort during the SuperZoo trade show.
Schmidt is the owner of San Francisco Bay Brand. He is a former WPA board member and WPA chairman,
as well as board member of the Pet Care Trust.
He got his start in the pet industry when he was 13 years old with his first job at Metaframe.
Schmidt joined the WPA board in 1986 and served on the board for 17 years, serving as chairman in 1999.
He also spent six years on the Pet Care Trust board.
He advocated for America’s Family Pet Expo as well as Pets in the Classroom, which WPA brought to the
Pet Care Trust. Schmidt is also credited with bringing the original idea for Aquatic Experience to the WPA
Mulholland began his journey in the pet industry in 1980 with Mardel Laboratories, an aquatic products
manufacturer. He stayed with the company until 1998, when it was sold to French-owned animal product man-
ufacturer Virbac. Mulholland worked with Virbac for a year at St. Johns in California.
In 2000, he joined All Glass Aquarium and continued there for 12 years. When Central Aquatics purchased
All Glass around 2007, Mulholland left the industry, and he retired in 2017.
He joined the WPA board in 1987 and served until 2001. He was president of the board in 2001. During the
majority of his time on the board, he served as the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) representative.
