kibble, canned food and treats. Weruva canned dog and cat food
sell well, too.
Treats: We have organic, all-natural and vegetarian treats that all
sell well. Smoked bones from Mika & Sammy’s as well as freeze-dried meat treats from Orijen, Momentum, Evanger’s, Primal, etc.
Collars, leashes and harnesses: Up Country, Puppia and RC Pet
Toys: Fluff & Tuff stuffed animals, West Paw balls and frisbees,
and From the Field catnip toys.
PPN: What are your favorite products right now?
Haupt: I stock the store so all my products I select are favorites!
PPN: What industry trends have you been keeping your eye on
Haupt: The cannabidiol (CBD) oils and treats, and all-natural
remedies for fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. I have researched and
recently brought into my store Earth Animal products for flea, tick
and mosquito prevention. I currently give my two dogs the Under the Weather Hemp Joint chews daily, which seem to alleviate
arthritic symptoms. I have recently given my one dog Pet Releaf
after surgery when she was uncomfortable with pain and I could
not give her traditional medicine due to her chronic liver disease,
and it worked well. I am also currently interested in and have just
ordered Mitchell’s Medicinals, which has both a human and pet
quality CBD oil dose.
PPN: What business challenge are you currently in the process
Haupt: Keeping customers interested in frequenting my store,
finding the best products for their pets and making a profit at the
end of the year.
PPN: What is your best tip for connecting with customers?
Haupt: Honesty, trust and being a reliable source that is willing
to extend themselves to give the best service possible for their pet.
