DOGTOPIA FOUNDATION RAISES
MONEY TO SUPPORT VETERANS
In honor of Veterans Day, Dogtopia, a
dog day care, boarding and spa franchise, challenged each Dogtopia day
care center to make a difference in the
lives of veterans through the Dogtopia Foundation, a companywide
initiative helping dogs to positively
change the world.
The Dogtopia Foundation established a storewide initiative to raise funds for America’s VetDogs, a New York-based organization dedicated to providing renewed independence to veterans and
active-duty military members. Over the course of its fundraising, the Dogtopia
Foundation raised more than $140,000 to support the training of 12 service dogs.
With the funds raised through the Dogtopia Foundation, these 12 dogs-in-train-ing will help veterans, active-duty service members and first responders with dis-abilities, physical injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), hearing and vision
loss, and seizures to experience enhanced mobility and renewed independence.
Dogtopia of South Coast, Calif., and Dogtopia of Tysons Corner, Va., were
among the many centers that went above and beyond expectations. Combined,
these centers were able to raise more than $27,000, enough to sponsor four service
dogs. Other notable participants include Steve Torres of the Tampa area, as well as
Dogtopia of Houston, Waco, Highlands Ranch, Chester Springs and Omaha.
CAMP BOW WOW
Camp Bow Wow, a dog
day care and boarding
franchise, has completed its second annual
#GiveAFetch’s aim is to
promote being a responsible pet owner while celebrating the special things we
do for our dogs. As a result of the 2018 initiative, the company donated $40,000
to shelters and rescues across the country.
Camp Bow Wow kicked off National Dog Week with a weekend of fami-ly-friendly events on Sept. 22 and 23 in four city parks across the country in
Pittsburgh, Dallas, Las Vegas and Kansas City, Mo.
Each of the dog-friendly weekend events featured a giant 7-foot tennis ball
dispenser that held more than 2,000 tennis balls. For every tennis ball dispensed,
Camp Bow Wow donated $5 (up to $10,000 per event) to a local shelter of the
user’s choice, amounting to a total of $40,000 for the whole campaign. The dispenser, which also doubled as a photo booth, held a single “golden tennis ball,”
awarding a free year of camp services to one lucky dog in Kansas City, Mo.,
named Chai. Between the four cities, nearly 40 adoption applications were received on-site to help dogs find their forever homes.
