PETSMART CHARITIES GRANT TO SUPPORT
THOSE AFFECTED BY CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES
PetSmart Charities is committing up to $1 million
in grant funding to support agencies working on
the frontlines to help pets and pet families affected by the wildfires that burned across the state of
California last fall.
PetSmart Charities has distributed $50,000 to
California-based animal welfare agencies that
are responding to the wildfire relief and recovery
As these efforts continue, PetSmart Charities knows there will be an ongoing need for
funding to help animal welfare agencies rescue,
feed and care for lost pets, and reunite lost pets
with their families, said company officials.
WEST PAW DONATES COLLARS TO DOGS
AFFECTED BY HURRICANE MICHAEL
Bozeman, Mont.-based West Paw teamed up
with backpack manufacturer Mystery Ranch to
produce 1,000 dog collars that are going to the
pets in the Gulf Coast areas affected by Hurricane
Mystery Ranch donated the material to make
the leashes, while West Paw donated labor, snap
hooks and thread.
All products are being sent to Alabama Rangers and Rescue, which is handling distribution of
the collars to those pets in need.
BLUE BUFFALO PARTNERSHIP TO PROVIDE
SERVICE DOGS FOR VETERANS
Blue Buffalo in Wilton, Conn., joined Sierra Delta
for a national campaign to support service dogs
for veterans. Sierra Delta is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education, advocacy, promotion and funding of the service dog industry.
During the month of November, Blue Buffalo donated 1 percent of Blue Freedom dog food
sales to Sierra Delta, up to $125,000. Blue Freedom dog and cat foods are sold at pet specialty
stores and online retailers.
Sierra Delta works through a national network of established partners to train service dogs.
CARU PET FOOD MAKES DONATION
FOR HURRICANE MICHAEL RELIEF
After the devastation Hurricane Michael
brought to the Florida panhandle, Vero
Beach, Fla.-based Caru Pet Food donated dog stews to the Humane Society of
Pinellas County in Clearwater, Fla. As
one of the forerunners of rescuing hur-ricane-affected pets in the state, the Humane Society of Pinellas County received
thousands of boxes of the company’s
Classic Stews to make feeding these rescued pets less of a worry and to aid the
shelter’s continued relief efforts.
WOODROW WEAR MAKES DONATION TO AID
PETS AFFECTED BY CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES
After the devastation of the Paradise Camp Fire and the other
destructive wildfires last year, San Jose, Calif.-based pet accessory brand Woodrow Wear donated more than 500 sets of
paw protecting Power Paws to dogs and cats in need of comfort and healing. The brand also implemented a GoFundMe
page to help fund further donations to pets statewide.
Power Paws nonslip pet socks help keep wounds clean,
while also providing warmth and traction to senior pets and
those with mobility issues, according to company officials.
Further, Power Paws protect from adverse weather—both extreme cold and hot—and allergens.
