Dawn Duncan and Steve Nicolosi, co-partners at Glo-Marr in Lawrenceburg, Ky., explain how
the company has been meeting groomers’ needs for more than 50 years and the ways in which
it has evolved to meet market needs.
Pet Product News: Glo-Marr has a more than50-year
history. How did the company get its start and what
are some milestone moments from its history?

and his father originally started Glo-Marr
Products in the kitchen of their family
home in St. Petersburg, Fla. It was Kenic
Pet Products then. It evolved into Glo-Marr Products in the late 1980s when the
company relocated to Lawrenceburg, Ky.
Milestone moments include moving
the company from Florida to its more
centralized location in central Kentucky
in 1987. The next milestone was quickly
growing out of the 15,000-square-foot fa-
cility and moving into our 65,000-square-
foot current location in the same town. Our
most recent milestone is the re-branding
of our Glo-Marr image in 2017, which
was completed with an updated logo, new
website, and new, innovative print ads,
sales materials and trade show presence.
Pet Product News: Tell us about the company’s full
product portfolio. What distinguishes these prod-
ucts from similar ones on the market?
Duncan and Nicolosi: Our product portfolio is
very vast. We have several items that have
been in our line since 1965. We rarely dis-
continue anything as we continue to add
to our lines of products. We are able to
embrace new trends and make products
based on what is currently the “go to” in-
gredient at the moment. Moisturizers are
an example of this. We have several mois-
turizers in our line. Aloe vera used to be
the hot product, then we added avocado,
and then in the 1990s, we were the first to
add pure emu oil as a moisturizer.
What really makes our products stand
out is that we try to offer several solutions
for each specific situation. This gives people a choice, as not everything works for
everyone. So alongside our shampoos, we
have follow-up sprays and topical creams
created with the same ingredients. The
sprays and creams are great for instant
treatment and relief to whatever the problem might be. Whether it is a hot spot, dry
skin or allergies.
