PawFlex Inc.’s newest product, Wickedly Potent Gel Spell, is a patented, time-release gel patch designed for achy
and sore muscles and joints. It contains essential oil of wintergreen, menthol and
macadamia vegetable oil, and the patch can be used up to eight consecutive hours
per day as well as washed and reused for up to a month as long as it is refrigerated
between each use, said Jennifer DiGrazia, CEO of the New York-based company.
“The goal was a gel patch that gets held in place by our PawFlex bandages, or any
type of wrap, and that would release an essential oil formulation that eases the pain,
stiffness, inflammation and general discomfort of achy joints,” she said.
The Green Pet Shop in Deerfield, Ill., started selling its CBD Pet Care Calming
and Soothing Lotion for dogs and cats this year. Each pen contains 50 pumps of
gel, each with precisely 1 milligram of cannabidiol (CBD), and the company plans to
come out with a 100-milligram pen as well, the manufacturer stated.
“Ours is different from others in the category because every other product is an edible product, so the absorption
rate is low—often less than 50 percent,” said Larry Wright, president. “With our unique and patented transdermal
system, you rub a measured amount of lotion onto the veiny part of the dog’s ear and it is absorbed immediately. The
entire dose is absorbed into the system instead of lost through the digestive tract.”
Nutri-Vet plans to introduce a blend of krill/fish oil for dogs and cats that makes it easier for owners to offer the
product to pets, said Stephen Twohig, vice president of sales for the Boise, Idaho, manufacturer. The target launch
date is Global Pet Expo in March 2017.
Responding to demand for CBD products, Pet Releaf in Denver, Colo., released Large Breed Edibites for medium- to
large-breed dogs. The larger option came about from customer feedback requesting bags for larger breeds.
The company’s new CBD Hemp Oil Capsules contain 15 milligrams of CBD each.
“[Designed] for convenience, the capsule form is easier for owners, and they’re able to get a higher dose of CBD
for those large- and very large-breed dogs without doubling the cost of retail price point,” said Steve Smith, president.
Recently, the company launched a new topical for pet relief. The completely edible, high-quality formula is for cats
and dogs and features “a rare Brazilian herb with amazing healing properties,” Smith said.
NWC Naturals Pet Products’ Tri-Krill for Pets now comes in pump bottles. The product is formulated to access all
parts of the body and work faster than fish oils, said John R. Taylor, ND, CEO and founder of the Laguna Hills, Calif.,
company. He added that new labels for the company’s Total-Zymes and Total-Biotics products are entering the supply
chain, and Total-Zymes now includes prebiotics.
