The Life Aquatic
SPOTLIGHT ON WPA
Get a sneak peek at what the World Pet Association
has planned for the 2017 Aquatic Experience.
One glance at the multiple-specied SuperZoo logo, which features animals that inhabit Earth’s lands, oceans and rivers, as well as its vast skies, reveals the show’s all-inclusive nature. However, later in the year, World Pet Association narrows its focus to just those water-dwelling species with its annual Aquatic Experience event, which will be held Nov. 3 to 5 at the Schaumburg Convention
Center in Schaumburg, Ill.
Now in its fifth year, Aquatic Experience offers 64,000 square feet of displays featuring more than 100 suppliers in the aquatics trade. Product categories range from health and nutrition to tank lighting and accessories to
aquarium livestock. Attendees can also benefit from the event’s retail-specific
educational programs, including a one-day fish health management course
designed to provide basic training for retail store employees.
Yet Aquatic Experience is hardly all business. Its doors are also open to
both serious hobbyists and curious onlookers, offering the aquatics industry a
perfect opportunity to attract new fans to the hobby and cement relationships
with long-time aquarists. For example, the Kids Aquarium Contest, a program designed to teach children about the freshwater environment, serves to
cultivate a new generation of aquarium owners, while educational seminars
address the concerns of intermediate and advanced hobbyists.
Sea Lion Splash is likely to delight attendees of all backgrounds with its up-close educational experience with sea lions during a 30-minute show hosted
by trainer Surfer Joe.
